SOCIAL ENTERPRISE WORKSHOP AT ALL SEWN UP
PLEASE NOTE THIS WORKSHOP IS CURRENTLY NOT TAKING PLACE. FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CALL 020 7793 1110
This workshop runs one day a week for four hours with the purpose of supporting trainees who are working commercially. It is open to all trainees, of whatever level, and is free to attend. The sole proviso is that the work taking place in this workshop is for a client. It is not a time for trainees to catch up on their coursework, neither is it an occasion for them to work on personal projects for their own homes.
The idea is that, although the trainees attending this workshop have experience and have usually completed their courses, they may lack the confidence to work for clients completely independently.
Courses at All Sewn Up cover a variety of skills and projects, but usually give only one opportunity to practice each area of expertise. Consequently, however good the notes the student has made during the course, each project is different with its own hazards and problems, and there is inevitable memory loss through lack of practice by the end of the course.
The Social Enterprise Workshop is not a structured, formal lesson. It has a voluntary tutor available purely to help students when they reach a problem or a point of indecision, with the aim of steadily increasing the confidence of that student to the point where she feels capable of continuing to build her own independent business.
Funding is currently being sought to ensure this workshop can continue.
